La. Deptartment of Insurance (LDI) – Catastrophe Claims Process Disclosure Guide

The Louisiana Department of Insurance (LDI) has issued Bulletin 2022-09 to inform all authorized property and casualty insurers of La. R.S. 22:1897 enacted by Act No. 80 of the 2022 Regular Legislative Session, which becomes effective January 1, 2023. La. R.S. 22:1897 mandates that the Commissioner of Insurance create a “CATASTROPHE CLAIMS PROCESS DISCLOSURE GUIDE” (Guide) which gives policyholders a detailed overview of the claims process whenever the Governor declares a state of emergency in accordance with La. R.S. 29:724. Bulletin 2022-09 also provides guidance to insurers regarding the proper procedures for issuance of the Guide and a Certificate of Hand-Delivery in accordance with La. R.S. 22:1897.
